RULES FOR "RANCHER'S PRIDE" SHOW

The purpose and intent of this contest is for the Ranchers of Park County to promote and demonstrate their ranch and the cattle of their ranch.  Another purpose would be to show the youth of Park County 4-H the type of cattle their ranch can provide for future 4-H projects.

ü      Exhibitors may be of any age to compete, but must have a valid brand from the Colorado Brand Board registered in the name of the exhibitor or be affiliated within the immediate family of the exhibitor.  Exhibitor may be asked to show proof or identification of the registered brand.

ü      For first year eligibility, heifers may be purchased outside of Park County, understanding that this will establish a new Park County Cattleman or Cattlewoman.  All heifers for first year exhibitors, must have ownership of the heifers prior to Jan. 1st, 2011.

ü      All heifers shall be born after January 1, 2010.  In an effort to keep this a local event, all 2nd year or more exhibitors’ heifers shall be born in Park County or have purchased their heifer from a Park County Rancher in which calves were born in Park County prior to Jan. 1st, 2011.

ü      Brand papers shall be provided for any heifer that is not home raised and have a legal brand on it, the brand being registered to the owner or exhibitor.

ü      All Heifers must be calf hood vaccinated for Brucellosis and have a legible tattoo, be in good health, and been poured or vaccinated for lice in the spring of 2011.

ü      Any question regarding ownership of a heifer shall be resolved by the local Brand Inspector, and any question regarding health of a heifer, especially any contagious diseases, shall be resolved by the Fair veterinarian.

ü      Grooming and fitting is only acceptable for the halter shown heifers in the Halter Class.

ü      Heifers can only be entered in one division or class.  A heifer from a halter class division can not be exhibited in the Pen of Three division.

ü      For the "Pen of Three" show, cattle will be judged unfitted, i.e. grooming only to remove manure, mud, and bedding.

ü      Only one exhibitor may be present in the ring during the judging of the Pen of Three.  If asked, the exhibitor may answer any questions that the judge may ask.
